Symposium 2
Multifunctional metal hydrides for energy storage – developments and perspectives
The urgent need for a transition towards sustainable, carbon-free and reliable renewable energy technologies pushes towards the development of novel advanced energy materials. The significant research efforts during the past decade has revealed a new diversity of novel hydrides with fascinating structures, compositions and properties. Metal hydrides currently receive intense interest within a range of energy related purposes, e.g. hydrogen storage, solid state ion conductors and anode conversion materials for all-solid-state batteries but also for concentrated solar thermal storage, metal hydride hydrogen compressors and proton conductors for fuel cells, etc. The aim of this symposium is to bring together ambitious scientists to present their latest advances and their opinion about major challenges and hot-topics. Our hope is that scientific discussions and exchange of ideas will inspire future developments towards useful energy materials. Topics to be covered by the symposium:
- Synthesis of new materials under extreme conditions,
- Materials investigations under extreme conditions,
- New energy materials
