50 Years of High-Pressure Superconductivity Research

50 years ago, Neil Ashcroft proposed that hydrogen could become high-temperature superconductor under pressure, nucleating the new research field of high-pressure superconductivity. Over the last decade, metallic hydrogen and high-temperature superconductivity in several superhydrides have indeed been achieved. In this symposium, we bring together researchers that have advanced the field of high-pressure and superconductivity research over the last 50 years with the goal to provide a historical perspective and to discuss the latest research results.
